UNDERCOVER

Tokyo, Japan

My collaboration with Jun Takahashi, founder of the Japanese fashion house UNDERCOVER, began in the most unexpected way. During the pandemic, he discovered my bronze work on Instagram and contacted me directly. From the very first exchange, there was an immediate connection. We shared an instinctive understanding of each other’s aesthetic universe.

The project began with a series of sculptural lighting pieces created for the personal house and atelier of Jun. Later the same year, I had the chance the create another series of pieces for UNDERCOVER’s Tokyo headquarters. These works were designed as more than functional objects. They brought presence, contrast, and material intensity into the heart of the brand’s creative space. It felt like placing fragments of my world into his.

Shortly after, our collaboration extended to the runway. For UNDERCOVER’s Spring Summer 2024 collection, I was invited to imagine and sculpt a series of heels. Each one was textured with the same bronze language I use in my larger pieces. I developed a process to translate my textures into miniature form, maintaining their rawness and emotional impact even at a new scale.

We never discussed our inspirations in depth. We didn’t need to. His universe of poetic darkness and surreal emotion met my own work naturally. It was a creative exchange built on intuition and respect.

This collaboration remains one of the most fluid and meaningful encounters in my practice. It allowed two distinct voices to speak together while staying fully themselves. Sculpture met fashion. Material met movement. And something unexpected was born.
