What Remains of Us Table lamp

What Remains of Us Table Lamp explores the transformation of historical ornamentation into an intimate sculptural object. Inherited fragments from the workshop of Venetian artist and restorer Fabio Da Tos are incorporated into hand-sculpted bronze forms, preserving the intricate details of their original decorative language while placing them within an entirely contemporary composition. At a smaller scale, the contrasts between the historical reliefs and the new sculpted elements become particularly visible.

The light emerges through glass tubes covered with delicate Kozo paper fibres, using a technique developed in collaboration with Papier à Êtres. Applied directly onto the glass, the fibres form an irregular, translucent surface that gently diffuses the LED illumination. The paper softens the technical precision of the light source, creating a subtle glow that reveals the textures of the surrounding bronze and the fine details of the ornamentation.

Each table lamp is individually sculpted by hand in wax before being cast in bronze by a specialised French foundry. Available in different patinas, from deep black to pale, mineral finishes with polished metallic highlights, the bronze retains the marks and irregularities of the sculpting process. The piece can be placed on a console, desk or side table, where its sculptural presence remains as important as the light it provides.
